Bicycling Promotion Efforts Honored

FORT WAYNE — Fort Wayne’s efforts to promote bicycling were recently honored.

The League of American Bicyclists awarded the city with its Bronze Award for the work done to make riding bicycles easier around town.

“By tripling the size of our trail network in just six years and increasing active-transportation opportunities, we are strengthening the fabric of our community, making it easier to get around, reducing our dependence on cars and helping residents stay fit for life,” Mayor Tom Henry said Monday.

CLIF Bar and Bicycling Magazine Launch “Join the Ride,” Delivering Free Bikes in Exchange for Inspiring Stories

CLIF Bar is challenging Americans across the country to find out, announcing today its first-ever “Join the Ride” program, which invites consumers to describe how a new bicycle will help them live better. Area ‘Medals’ in Bicycling

MANKATO — Mankato and North Mankato have been recognized for their commitment to bicycling with a “bronze” designation from the League of American Bicyclists.

“You could say we medaled,” said Paul Vogel, Mankato’s community development director and a bicyclist. Last year, the cities were noted with an “honorable mention.”
